    Background And Aim
    Discoloration is a major concern with regard to the use of tooth-colored restorations. Type of restorative material and surface treatment are believed to play a role in this regard. This study sought to compare the color change of glazed and polished dental porcelain after 30 days of immersion in chlorhexidine (CHX).
    Materials And Methods
    In this in vitro, experimental study, 20 discs with 10 mm diameter and 2 mm thickness were fabricated of A1 shade of Noritake porcelain using a gypsum mold. All samples had one opaque layer.
    They were then randomly divided into two groups of 10. Glaze powder was added to porcelain in group 1, and group 2 was polished using a polishing kit. The CIE L*a*b color parameters of samples were then measured using a spectrophotometer. All samples were immersed in 0.02% chlorhexidine solution for 30 days and color parameters were then measured again. Change in each color parameter was compared between the two groups (polished and glazed) using t-test.
    Results
    After 30 days of immersion in CHX, ∆E was 0.76±0.16 in the glazed and 0.89±0.16 in the polished group. The difference in this regard between the two groups was not significant (P=0.092).
    Conclusion
    Both polishing and glazing confer optimal color stability to dental porcelain.

    Background And Aim
    Bleaching can improve the color of restorative materials and resolve problems related to discoloration or color mismatch. This study evaluated the effect of in-office bleaching method in conjunction with two different laser wavelengths on color change of two types of glass-ionomer restorative materials (light-cure and self-cure).
    Materials And Methods
    In this experimental study, thirty samples were fabricated of Fuji IX, and FUJI II LC glass-ionomer restorative material and specimens of each glass- ionomer were divided into three subgroups (n=10) receiving the following treatments:1. Laser assisted in-office bleaching with Opalescence Boost® along with 980nm diode laser; 2. Laser assisted in-office bleaching with Opalescence Boost® along with 810nm diode laser; 3. Conventional in-office bleaching with Opalescence Boost ®. The color of all specimens was evaluated before and after bleaching with Spectro Shade. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s HSD test.
    Results

    Background And Aim
    Pulpectomy of primary teeth is commonly performed with hand files and instruments. However, it is a time consuming procedure. Compared to hand files, rotary instrumentation has more advantages. The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the cleaning efficacy and time taken for instrumentation of deciduous mo-lars using Reciproc and Mtwo rotary systems.
    Materials And Methods
    In this experimental study, 96 canals of 28 extracted primary molars with at least two-thirds of intact roots, with no previous treatment and 7-12 mm length were selected. After access cavity preparation, size #15 K-file was introduced into the root canal and India ink was injected with an insulin syringe. Then, 96 samples were randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group. In group I (n=44), root canals were prepared with Reciproc; in group II (n=44), Mtwo files were used for instrumentation, and in group III, eight samples were considered as negative controls. After clearing and root sectioning, the removal of India ink in the cervical, middle, and apical thirds was scored. Data were analyzed using Student's t-test and Mann-Whitney U test.
    Results
    There was no significant difference between the experimental groups regarding cleaning efficacy at the apical third of root canals (P>0.05). The coronal and middle thirds scored higher in the Reciproc group (P
    Conclusion
    Using new systems such as Reciproc file for pulpectomy of primary teeth is beneficial.

    Background And Aim
    Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common malignant neoplasm of the salivary glands with complex histopathologic features and clinical behavior. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinicopathologic significance of p63, Maspin and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 expression in MEC.
    Materials And Methods
    In this retrospective study, immunohistochemical staining was performed to detect the expression of p63, Maspin and MMP-2 in 35 cases of MEC. In addition, to detect the presence of myoepithelial differentiation, smooth muscle actin (SMA) staining was performed. Data were analyzed using non-parametric tests.
    Results
    P63 expression, intensity of staining for p63 and MMP-2 total score showed significant correlations with histologic grade (P=0.008, P=0.035 and P=0.003, respectively). The association between p63 expression and MMP-2 total score was significant (P=0.033). P63 positive cases did not express SMA.
    Conclusion
    Findings suggest that p63 and MMP-2 may be useful prognostic indicators in MEC. MEC is devoid of myoepithelial cells.

    Background And Aim
    In recent years, beneficial effects of herbal hygienic products and toothpastes have significantly been emphasized. This study sought to assess the effects of Masdent toothpaste which contains Pistacia Lentiscus (PL) extract on plaque index and Streptococcus mutans(SM) and Lactobacillus (LB) count in saliva.
    Materials And Methods
    This study was conducted on 60 students aged 18-20 years. Participants were asked to brush their teeth twice a day for four weeks with the assigned toothpaste, Masdent toothpaste which contains PL extract in the case group and Crest toothpaste in the control group. Plaque index was recorded at the onset and end of the study, and salivary samples were taken for SM and LB colony count. Mann-Whitney, independent t- and Wilcoxon tests were used for data analysis. P
    Results
    Number of SM and LB colonies significantly decreased in both groups(P
    Conclusion
    Use of herbal toothpaste containing PL extract and Crest toothpaste had similar effects and both significantly decreased SM and LB salivary counts as well as the plaque index.

    Introduction
    Mental neuropathy is a sensory neuropathy characterized by hypoesthe-sia or paresthesia of the chin and lower lip. It can be a symptom of a latent malignant disease.
    Case Presentation
    This report presents a case of a 34-year-old woman with a history of breast cancer who complained of severe pain and numbness of the right lower lip. We reviewed numerous reliable articles (through PubMed and Google Search) in relation to mental neuropathy and its possible causes.
    Conclusion
    Given that the reports of mental neuropathy have often been associated with malignancies, patients that complain of sensory impairment and numbness of the mental region should be examined carefully.
